New Service RequestAccounts may be opened or changed between 8:00 am and 4:00pm Monday-Friday (except holidays) by visiting City Hall located at 125 W Jefferson.  New customers are required to come in with a photo identification and complete an  application for Service.  Existing customers may handle most transactions by telephone.  In completing the Application for Service, new customers will need:

  1. A deposit:  It is required to be paid at the time of application.  The deposit will be applied to the final bill, once services are no longer needed.
  2. Proof of identification.  A government issued picture I.D. is required of the customer and their spouse.

A City of Memphis customer is required to be at least 18 years of age, before we can put services in their name.If you are an existing customer and moving to another address within the City of Memphis service area, please contact us as soon as possible and tell us the date you wish to have your services disconnected at your present address and the  date you want services at your new address.

 

DepositsDeposits will be held as security for payment of electricity and water billed by the City of Memphis.  The deposit will be applied to the final bill should the customer leave the City.  Property Owners that do not reside in their home and rent the house, is required to have an owners deposit as well as the renter having a deposit.  This allows services to be put into the landlords name between tenants.
